In 1994, as well as the foundation in Orléans in France, the Brothers of Saint John were sent (and guided by Cardinal Schönborn in person) to Austria, in order to found a priory in Marchegg, a town on the border with Slovakia, situated between the two capital cities of Vienna and Bratislava.

On the weekend of 31 August – 1 September, 2019, the Brothers of Saint John celebrate 25 years in Austria. Cardinal Schönborn presides at the Sunday Mass on 1 September.
