How to become an oblate?

Oblature

Any baptized person, aware of the meaning of his baptismal vocation and of the witness he has to give in the world, wishing to live in the spirit of the Saint John Family, can apply for secular oblation. The time period may be anything from one to three years. This is necessary for the postulant to discern his own aspirations and deepen the charism of the Saint John Family. This postulate is overseen by the prior, who can designate a brother or an oblate to sponsor the postulant. During this probationary period, the postulant lives according to the Oblate rule of life (which mainly concerns spiritual life), participates in oblate meetings in his priory, and takes part in at least two retreats in the Saint John community. At the end of this period, it is up to the prior, after consultation with the members of the priory, to receive the oblature. If you are interested in the oblature, contact the prior or prioress of the priory closest to you geographically. From the information you have received you should be able to discern if this path is suitable for you.
