Who are the Contemplative Sisters of Saint John?

Soeurs contemplatives

The Community of Contemplative Sisters of Saint John, given the status of a diocesan religious institute by the Archbishop of Lyon on March 25, 1994, was founded by Father Marie-Dominique Philippe on December 8, 1982. Their Motherhouse is located in France in Troussures (France – 60).

Above all, prayer is at the heart of the life of the Contemplative Sisters. They therefore live their consecration to God in silence and solitude, but also in fraternal charity. Because, as Saint John says, “whoever does not love his brother whom he sees cannot love God whom he does not see” (1 Jn 4:20). This is why the sisters live a common life of sharing, service and cooperation. Through prayer they carry out the apostolate of their apostolic brothers and sisters in particular.

The community has some 62 sisters, coming from about ten nationalities, divided into 6 priories.
